April Quilt of the Month
As spring has started to show its bright weather, Spinning Colors is bright and fun. The design looks like beautiful pinwheels that pop out on the fun polka dot background fabric. Because of the uniformity, chain piecing made putting this together a cinch. Again, this quilt would be fun to embellish with some buttons on the center of each pinwheel. The size for this month makes it a great wall hanging or table runner.

March Quilt of the Month
Easter Baskets were so fun this month. The eggs were adhered to the background fabric with a stabilizer on the back. The basket was fairly easy and used a few half-square triangles. Ultimately, this design left a lot of room for embellishment. One student, in Christi's Okinawa class, chose to embellish the eggs in a back stitch just inside of the edge in embroidery floss just a shade darker than the egg. This will make a great wall hanging for Easter!

February Quilt of the Month
February's QoM, Irish Eyes, was so fun to design! The design is very geometric up close, but looks like waves from farther away, creating what looks like eyes with lashes. With the Kelly green fabric, this quilt is very St. Patrick's Day, without a single shamrock other than on the fabric. Irish Eyes incorporates more very essential techniques for all quilting. The pattern includes square-in-a-square, quarter-square triangles, and flying geese. Lots of good practice in basics.

January Quilt of the Month
The January design, True Love, is a great design because it is fairly simple and teaches a very necessary technique for all new quilters: the half-square triangle. What a great way to make beautiful corner triangles. Also, I just love the bright pink of the hearts and how the black posts pop from the white background. Being the first quilt in the Quilt of the Month series, meant the design should ease quilters in. Every background of quilter has attended classes, so this really does accommodate even the most unpracticed sewer.

Off and running
Currently, I am designing and teaching a monthly class at My Sister's Quilts in addition to quarterly classes and, my personal favorite, quilting at home with my long arm. I travel extensively and always include some piece of my travels into each of my own quilts. I am a quilter as a well as a pattern designer and teacher. One of my classes is also being taught simultaneously in Okinawa, Japan!
